What Makes It Stand Out
This isn’t just another part from a catalog. I’ve built with this trigger myself, and what stands out immediately is its straightforward, no-nonsense design. It’s a flat-faced, single-stage trigger built for consistent performance. In our shop, every unit gets a hands-on inspection before it ships, and the FRT-15L3 consistently shows clean machining and a proper, even finish right out of the package. We’ve found it offers a clean break and a predictable reset that works well for both range use and dedicated builds where reliability is key.

What We Like & Don’t
✅ The Pros:
- Solid, Consistent Feel: The break is crisp without being overly light, and the reset is positive and audible. It’s a predictable trigger.
- Reliable Fit: Based on our inspections and customer builds, this unit mates correctly with standard mil-spec lowers. It’s one reason it’s a steady seller for us.
- Clean Build Quality: As mentioned, our visual QC process consistently shows clean machining on these. No rough edges or finish flaws that we’ve seen.
- Good Value: For the performance and construction, the price point hits a sweet spot between basic triggers and high-end competition models.
- Simple Installation: The drop-in design with anti-walk pins makes for a straightforward install, even for newer builders.
❌ The Cons:
- Not for Ultra-Light Fans: If you’re chasing a sub-2.5 lb pull for precision bench work, this isn’t that trigger. It’s built for general use reliability.
- Potential Fitment Note: We had one customer return stating it was “too tight.” After talking with him, it turned out he was using a non-OEM spec aftermarket frame. It works perfectly on standard lowers, but always verify your lower’s specifications.
- Basic Packaging: It comes in a simple blister pack. It’s functional and protects the part, but don’t expect a fancy presentation box.
Is This Right for You?
Buy this trigger if: You’re looking for a reliable, no-frills upgrade from a standard mil-spec trigger. You prefer a flat face for finger placement. You want a consistent single-stage pull for general shooting, training, or a duty-oriented build. You’re building on a standard mil-spec lower receiver.
Skip this trigger if: You require an extremely light, adjustable, or two-stage trigger for specialized competition. You are building on a lower with known non-standard fire control group dimensions. You specifically want a curved trigger shoe.
Common Questions
Is this a true drop-in trigger?
Yes. It comes as a self-contained unit with its own housing and anti-walk pins. You remove your old trigger and hammer, then install this complete cassette into your lower receiver.
What is the actual pull weight?
The manufacturer rates it at approximately 3.5 pounds. In our handling and from customer feedback averaging 4.5 out of 5 stars, it consistently falls in that range—a clean, manageable pull suitable for most applications.
Does it work with all AR-15 lowers?
It is designed for mil-spec lowers. It fits perfectly in OEM and most in-spec aftermarket lowers. We did have one isolated case where a customer had fitment issues with a specific aftermarket frame that had out-of-spec dimensions.
Are anti-walk pins necessary?
They are included and recommended. The trigger uses a cassette design, and the anti-walk pins help ensure the unit stays securely aligned, preventing any potential movement during firing.
Where can I buy FRT-15L3™ online?
You can purchase it right here from Polymer80Builds. We’re a USA-based seller in Medford, OR, and we physically inspect every unit before it ships to ensure it meets our standards.
How does the flat face feel compared to curved?
The flat face allows for a consistent finger placement, often lower on the trigger, which some shooters feel gives them more control and a straighter rearward pull. It’s largely personal preference.
What tools do I need for installation?
You’ll need a standard set of armorers tools: a hammer and punch set (or a dedicated pin tool) to drive out your old trigger and hammer pins. Installation of the drop-in unit itself is then tool-less.
